Donna Gibbs LPC, BCPCC, NCC
Director
Donna graduated from North Carolina State University in 1993 with a BA in Psychology. She has post-graduate training in the specialization of School Psychology and an MS in Community Counseling which she earned in 1997 from Western Carolina University. She earned a Ph. D. in Christian Counseling and Psychology from Louisiana Baptist University in 2007. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, and a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor. She is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
Donna has been in practice at Mud Creek Baptist Church since 1998. She directs A Clear Word Counseling Center, along with marriage and support ministries for Mud Creek Baptist Church. She frequently enjoys speaking and training engagements. Prior to full-time practice at Mud Creek, she served in various Community Mental Health Agencies as a Child and Family Therapist and school consultant. She co-authored Water From the Rock, a resource for those who are struggling with the grief of infertility, which was published by Moody Press in 2002. Donna’s most recent book, Kiss & Tell: Truths that will Transform your Marriage, was published in 2010. Donna is also a part of the National Referral Network for Focus on the Family. Donna is married with three young miracle boys.
Frank John Schizzano, MA
Pastoral Counselor
Frank graduated from William Paterson University with a MA in Social and Behavioral Sciences in 1979. He also attended Polytechnic Institute from 1984-1985 in their Master’s program for Transportation Management. Frank worked for the City of New York for 32 years and was appointed by Mayor Rudolph Guiliani in 1994 as Assistant Commissioner for Transportaion. He retired in 1996. Frank is an ordained Deacon with Mud Creek Baptist Church. He has a Master’s Degree in Christian Counseling from Louisiana Baptist University.
In the past 34 years Frank has served in various capacities as a group facilitator. His primary focus was marriage intervention and anger management. He has served at Mud Creek Church since 2002. Frank has been married to Gloria for 47 years and has a daughter Frances, who lives in New Jersey.
Lori Heagney, MS, LPC
Professional Counselor
Lori graduated from Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God (now Southeastern University) in Lakeland, Florida in 1990 with a BA in Psychology. She earned her Masters in Mental Health Counseling at Stetson University in Deland, Florida in 1997. She was licensed in Florida as a Mental Health Counselor in 2000. She became licensed in the state of North Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2009 after moving to NC in the fall of 2008.
Lori has extensive experience working children, adolescents, families, and adults with mental illness in both the private and community mental health system since 1989. As a counselor, Lori has worked in both outpatient and inpatient hospital settings since 1997. While taking time off to have her children, Lori served as the MOPS Coordinator at her church in FL. This rewarding opportunity encouraged a love for working with young mothers and encouraging them to recognize God’s special plan for their life. She has a special passion for helping women find their full potential in Christ.
Lori is married with two wonderful young girls. She enjoys reading Christian fiction, taking road trips with her family and enjoying the beautiful outdoors of North Carolina.
Coy Newton, MDiv., LPC
Professional Counselor
After a four year enlistment in the US Air Force, Coy graduated in 1978 from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BA degree in social sciences, humanities and religious studies. Coy and his wife, Babs, then moved to Atlanta, Ga. where Coy graduated in 1980 from a three year Masters of Divinity program at Emory University (Candler School of Theology). His focuses were biblical studies, Greek and pastoral care and counseling. Also he completed a unit of clinical pastoral counseling at Georgia State Mental Health Institute in Atlanta. Coy is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor and is a member of American Association of Christian Counselors.
Coy has spent six years as a church associate pastor and pastor. He has also spent four years as an active duty Navy Chaplain, and is now retired from the Navy Reserves chaplaincy (LCDR). He worked at Henderson County Mental Heath Center (Trend Mental Health) as a therapist for 4 years and has been in private practice for nine years. Presently he is working part time at A Clear Word Counseling Center. Coy is married with two adult children and two young grandchildren. He enjoys fly fishing, photographing waterfalls, camping, hiking and reading.
Lisa Jackson, BS
Support Ministry Coordinator
Lisa graduated from Gardner-Webb University in 2005 with a BS in Human Services. Lisa has worked with all ages – including youth ministry at Mud Creek, college admissions at Gardner-Webb University and is now serving as the Support Ministry Coordinator at Mud Creek. Lisa has been married to Chris since 2002 and together the have a little boy named Garrett. Lisa enjoys spending time with her family outside during her free time.
Patty Williams
Insurance Manager
Patty is a life long resident of Henderson County. She graduated from West Henderson High, has attended Blue Ridge Community College and Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute. She worked in the medical field in Administration and at Pardee Hospital in Insurance Reimbursement/ Financial Contracts. Patty and her husband, Mike, are members of Mud Creek Baptist Church, where she teaches women’s Bible studies.
Kathy Glover
Accounts Manager
Kathy graduated from Asheville Buncombe Technical College with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. She also attended Western Carolina University. She has worked for Henderson County Finance Department, owned her own business, and most recently worked in banking for 9 years. Kathy is married to her high school sweetheart, Steve and they have two children, a daughter and a son.
Judy Harden
Administrative Support
Judy Harden moved to Hendersonville from Charlotte, NC, many years ago. She has been a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church for 40 years. She retired just a few years ago from the Henderson County Tax Collectors office. She enjoys traveling and having sleep overs for her 5 GRANDS. They help her stay young at heart.
